This is going to be something of a short driveby because I'm in a hurry and I'm also pretty pissed off with a lot of the dialogue here lately and am having a hard time controlling my temper.
It seems to be accepted in many quarters on dKos that Latinos support Hillary because of "latent racism" against African Americans, to quote but one comment of many, many similar comments I have read here today.
(No, I'm not going to link to every comment in every diary, and you'll just have to get over it.)
What is pissing me off is not that there are a whole lot of general shit-for-brains posting at Daily Kos these days -- I've become sadly numb to that -- but that no one here seems to be speaking out against this slur against Hispanic Americans.
If one allows themselves to get caught up in a discussion of white/black race relations here, one will soon discover a veritable surfeit of outrage on the topic. Often the outrage is deserved, sometimes it is not.
But say that Hillary is getting Latino support because Latinos don't like African Americans, and not only will you not get TRed or shouted down -- as you surely would on any other racially-oriented thread -- I have noticed that most likely the comment will float by with hardly a titter either way.
Like I said, it seems to be conventional wisdom here to say that Latinos are racist -- so conventional that such a comment hardly seems to merit a reaction.
If this is indeed a prevalent opinion here -- and it may just be a few idiots here saying this, I certainly hope so -- then count me out of this whole site, 'cause it's not worth the pixels it's printed on.
Of course I don't really have to mention the irony that the site proprietor himself is a Latino.
So where's my @#$$in' outrage, Kos?
