EENR PART 2
Take your rec off this Part 1 diary and head on over to the new live blog, hosted by Ellinorianne. We'll keep updating.
Well, it's here -- the 'real' start of the Democratic Presidential nominating process. After months of diaries and canvassing and phone banking, the ups and downs of the longest Presidential primary race I've ever experienced, we're finally here.
With the caucuses now started, we will be here until the final results are all in -- no matter what! If this diary gets too long or unwieldy, we'll move on over to EENR Part II, and at the right time, on to the Victory Party!
But first let's review some important Live-Blogging rules. Hold onto your hats, scarves and mittens as we make the leap!
Live-Blogging Diary tips and requests:
1. NO VIDEOS. I know I know, this is EENR after all. But vids take up a lot (and I mean A LOT) of bandwidth and make it impossible for some folks to really participate. We want ALL Edwards supporters tonight to feel welcome and hang out as we roll across Iowa.
2. LINKS to videos are wonderful! Not quite the same but we have to have some music.
3. NO PICTURES. Same as with videos, let's keep it to a minimum.
Bells & Whistles:
We have a map (below) that will be updated regularly that shows where the results are coming in from. And results will be updated regularly just below the map.
You can also check the results yourself at www.iowacaucusresults.com. These are from the Iowa Democratic Party and are refreshing every 30 seconds on their website.

And now, on with the show:
A few minutes ago, in 1,781 precincts across Iowa, the last of the caucusers were registered and the doors were locked (or at least closed tightly). Right now, the temporary chair at each of the sites is bringing the meeting to order and presenting the evening's agenda to the attendees. In some places with 6 or 7 neighbors gathered together, this will take about a minute and the evening could be over in as little as 30 minutes. In others, with several hundred friends, neighbors and strangers in attendance, just getting everyone in and settled could go on for well past 7:30 pm CST (the earliest a caucus can determine viability). So, some precincts will be calling in their results promptly at 7:30 pm CST, but the bulk of the results are expected to come in between 9 and 10 pm.
