Yeah, yeah... we know. Barack Obama won the Iowa caucuses and laid claim to a a total of 16 pledged delegates towards choosing the Democratic presidential nominee in November of this year. But if you take a close look at the overall numbers, Hillary Clinton won 15 delegates, (not bad for coming in third by approximately .3% of the vote), and John Edwards won 14, (second in percentages... third in delegates). Basically a three-way split, but that's not readily apparent in the post Iowa media spin-frenzy.
But who's really ahead in the national delegate count... the thing that really matters when it comes to choosing a nominee? Well, the answer there, to date, is Hillary Clinton. Hillary currently has 169 total delegates, or roughly 52% of the total delegate count to date at this early stage, compared to 66, or approximately 20%, for Obama, and 47, or approximately 14%, for Edwards. So Obama has Iowa, but Hillary has the delegates... so far. Either way you look at it, this race ain't over 'til the fat (person) sings!
