(Don't worry, I haven't lost my mind)
John Edwards ran a great, gutty, substantive campaign.
He pushed issues that progressives and Democrats care deeply about.
And, those who supported him and continue to believe in him must feel like their hearts have been ripped out of their chest.
Indeed, such a feeling could very well be in our future.
But, for today, please don't try to convert them.
Don't tell them that they need to support Barack Obama to stop Hillary. Or to bring about change. Or to advance the progressive agenda.
Just don't.
It's crass, it's obnoxious, and quite frankly it'll be counterproductive.
Give them their space.
And, shockingly, maybe acknowledge some of the good things John Edwards did for the issues and for the party in this campaign.
Because, even his most severe critics (such as myself) have to acknowledge his aggressive stances on global warming and health care have advanced the ball and resonated with voters.
And for the love of god, don't gloat.
Save the gloating for Rudy Giuliani's flameout.
