John Edwards has reiterated that he will stay in the race, right to the convention if it comes to it. But the man is not dropping out. I think this is a brilliant publicity stunt and I'M LOVING IT!
Obama had hours of free media during and following the Kennedy’s endorsement; Clinton made a show of an irrelevant zero delegate win in a state where no one campaigned; while Edwards has repeatedly decried the media attention on Obama and Clinton.
Edwards doesn't have the money for a significant ad buy in all 22 states and beyond February 5th. What will it take for the media to give a candidate in need of attention, the kind of publicity that Obama and Clinton have enjoyed in the past months?
It takes news of Edwards dropping out and a state in need of the same attention as Iowa, NH, NV and SC. Hundreds of cameras, journalists, reporters and live broadcast from New Orleans. Free media coverage. It does two things:
- Draws media attention to his strongest campaign theme - poverty.
- Draws media attention to a state that needs it – New Orleans
I've seen this before. God, I hope I'm right because I've been really upset today by the news that Edwards may be dropping out. I'm an ardent OBAMA supporter. But I just realised today how much we need Edwards to stay in the race.
