The Retail, Wholesale & Dept. Store Union (RWDSU [UFCW Affiliate]) (UFCW) has just issued the following press release:
She has stood with us and has been and continues to be supportive of our efforts to call attention to Wal-Mart's business practices that hurt working families. And she has lent her voice to calls for the giant retailer to change its ways.
Hillary was the first woman and therefore had to pick and choose her fights more selectively than her male counterparts. During her time on the board, Hillary advocated for hiring practices that employed more women and minorities and she advocated for more environmentally friendly Wal-Mart policies.
Now, about that Rezko character...
To Obama's credit, all the Rezko news has been his own doing:
And that's Obama's fault. At some point early in his campaign for the White House, he apparently decided he'd said all he wanted to say and all there was to say about his dealings with Rezko. He would not grant follow-up interviews on the subject to investigative reporters, and his staff provided written and often inadequate responses to written questions.
Let's start with the most recent news: Obama fundraiser is 'close friend' of corrupt Iraqi businessman
An undeclared payment of $3.5 million (£1.75 million) from a corrupt Iraqi-British businessman has landed Barack Obama's former fundraiser behind bars.
The payment, disclosed in court papers, is the first time Mr Obama's long-serving bagman Tony Rezko, a Syrian immigrant to the United States, has been linked as a friend to the Iraqi-born billionaire Nadhmi Auchi, one of Britain's richest men.
The relationship is a potential embarrassment for Mr Obama, who has made his opposition to the Iraq war a central plank of his campaign.
Rezko ties:
In addition to a land deal, Sen. Barack Obama's ties to indicted dealmaker Antoin "Tony" Rezko include an internship the senator provided the son of a contributor at the request of Rezko, an Obama spokesman confirmed Saturday.
NBC posted a video two days ago about the land deal but it has mysterioualy been taken down. Try viewing it yourself!
Hsu vs. Rezko:
Obama's prolonged struggle to rid his campaign of Rezko money contrasts with how his Democratic rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, said she handled a controversy over one of her fundraisers, Norman Hsu. Less than two weeks after disclosures that he was wanted in connection with a fraud case in California and had for years been a fugitive from justice, Clinton last year returned $850,000 in contributions collected for her by Hsu.
Did Obama do any favors for Rezko?
The details of the land deal:
And I happened to find this video that shows Rezko's properties and the 13th District, the district Obama represented:
