This email was passed to me by a friend in the US Army. I left out their contact info for abvious reasons, but here's a perfect example of how Bush is not making us any safer at home. These old chemical weapons that are just lying in dumps are a great target for terrorists. Guess Bush is giving them a pass--boy do I feel safer!
Subject: RE: White House Jeopardizing U.S. Role in Global Toxics Treaty
"I think Bush is going to get Bushwhacked in '04. I'm predicting its not going to be even close and that he will loose big; There are even too many Republicans within house that dont like his policies. reason I say this:
We have two sites we're responsible for building facilities and destroying CW (Chemical Weapons.) Recently OSD (pentagon) has halted and slowed funding of our project w/o explaining why. Other areas/sites of CW destruction are also looking at funding shortfalls in out years of 05 & 06. Just got out a staff meeting and we were told two Republian Senators are up in arms (no pun intended) and furious with the funding decisions going to cut/slow funds at these two sites as made by the pentagon.. I think we are experiencing funding drills that have slowed our project efforts because Pentagon never has enough in its regular areas to funds efforts when were engaged in war. I think they are tapping into all the programs where excess dollars can be found to budget for military operations. and of course we all know who brought on this costly war. I dont mind efforts going on in Afghanstan because there is a direct link w/ Bin Laden and Sept 11, but Iraqi is a bush fiasco and a tax payer burden."
