With 96% of New Hampshire reporting, here are the numbers from CNN.com:
Ballots for the Democratic Primary: 277,068
Ballots for the Republican Primary: 228,531
From a state that has 850,836 total registered voters -- 26% Democratic, 30% Republican, 44% Independent
That's right!!!
Even though there are still over 30,000 more Rethuglicans registered in NH than Democrats, yet almost 50,000 more voters chose to vote in the Democratic primary.
Sorry for the drive by, but this was a positive story line from Iowa that didn't seem to get much play from NH (AFAIK). I think this is still an encouraging sign that there is a lot of apathy over on the red team, or that a lot of the indie's are breaking for the blue team.
I know it's short, but I DID have to at least do some math to slap this together. No matter who your candidate is, you've got to be pleased with the voter turnout so far!
