Hi. Sorry for the short diary, but I want to address a few debate moments that aren't getting much play and which we should hit upon because I think they might have legs-
Moment 1
We cannot afford to lose against al Qaeda and the Shia extremists who are still there, still fighting us, but we're getting closer and closer to victory. And it would be a travesty if we quit now in Iraq.
Surely she meant Sunni extremists. That's what the whole 'surge' was designed to fight- Sunni extremism. The Shi'a are the majority in Iraq. Maliki is Shi'a. The woman can't tell the difference between Shi'a and Sunni!
Moment 2
Hey, can I call you Joe?
She asked that at the beginning of the debate. She then called him "Joe" exactly one time. When?
Say it ain't so, Joe, there you go again pointing backwards again.
In other words, she asked him if she could call him by his first name and only asked so she could insult him later!
Moment 3
I may not answer the questions that either the moderator or you want to hear, but I'm going to talk straight to the American people and let them know my track record also.
She told the moderator that she would not answer the questions. Let me say that again- SHE TOLD THE MODERATOR THAT SHE WOULD NOT ANSWER THE QUESTIONS.
Moment 4
I do take issue with some of the principle there with that redistribution of wealth principle that seems to be espoused by you
That was code for, "you are a communist." And it was really obvious code. She called Joe a communist.
Moment 5
Okay, not exactly a moment since it happened all through the debate- She didn't make eye contact with Joe Biden and continually smirked as he talked... exactly like McCain in the first debate!
I can only come up with two reasons why she did the same thing and both of them are bad.
Reason 1- She was coached to mimic his rudeness despite his getting roundly criticized for it.
Reason 2 I will illustrate with the following scene from Ghostbusters-
LOUIS
Listen, that reminds me, you shouldn't leave your TV on so loud when you go out. The creep down the hall phoned the manager.
DANA
That's strange, I didn't realize I'd left it on.
LOUIS
Well, yeah, you know what I did? I climbed on the ledge and tried to disconnect the cable, but I couldn't get in, so you know what I did? I turned my TV up real loud too so everyone would think all our TVs had something wrong with them -
Maybe there is another reason, but I really can't think of it.
Anyway, those are the moments I wanted to point out because I think most of them aren't getting much attention. I hope you found this enlightening, or at least not boring.
