National polls are interesting, but no president has ever been elected by popular vote in the U.S.
Presidents are elected by the Electoral College.
That is why what I saw when I hooked the tubes on the back of my computer to the internets this morning I smiled from ear to ear.
looky what we got here
It's a brief diary, but worth sharing methinks.
For several days prior to the debates, realclearpolitics.com a site as good as any other for watching numbers as they report a "poll of polls" and then translate the recent state polls into an Electoral map, had Obama with just over 270 votes. Good, but not smiley faced good.
The last couple of days things have changed.
First, one morning it was Virginia. And then, to my shock, North Carolina!!
A real Confederate state turning blue. And now, this morning, well, I'm gwin fed tuh make you follow the link to see which state done went blue this morning. (hint, the dialectual clues in the preceding sentence might help with the region of the county this here comes from, it does.)
Look at the most recent state where Obama is now showing a lead in the poll of polls. OMG
And it is not Ohio. Ohio has shown a slight Obama lead for some time now.

Take a look below the map and you can see the movement in the state polls that are moving the colors on the map above.
Of course the "toss up states" the "battleground states" the "purple states" are still listed as not even "leaning" Obama. But he has leads in all these places.
North Carolina, and now Florida. Could the Universe be the creation of one omnipotent creator who is perfectly good? Is this preliminary evidence thereof?
Me hopes so.
