that one of the reasons that John McCain is so hostile to Obama may just be that John McCain....if he loses to Obama, will be forever known as the white man who lost the Presidential race to the first black President?
I was reading a post on TPM Why Josh Marshall is Exactly Right about McCain’s Psychologyc and I was thinking that maybe that should be added to the list. I thought about this for a long time just based on watching McCain in the debates.
If we look at John McCain's history, how proud he is of his family and even that he has a lot to live up to, this may help explain how he reacts to Obama. I do not mean that you can't be proud of you family. By all means, do so...but
I am just guessing, but he does seem very frustrated and his campaign has taken on a form that is very scary...racist even. His campaign is a reflection of who he is just as Obama's campaign is a reflection of who he is. There is a stark difference between the two.
No matter what, if he wins or loses, he still will be remembered by this stage of his campaign and it is not pretty.
Does he not know how many people he is hurting. Not just Obama. If he wins, he will win by dividing the country along the lines of hate and how does that get repaired?
His campaign is not the actions of a rational person. Obama and McCain have policies that are different and surely could be used instead of this incitement that we are seeing. And he lets it lie there, not nipping the idea that Obama is dangerous.
It seems to me an act of a desperate man, and does just wanting the Presidency make one so desperate to do as he has done. Or is it some other reason? And that is when I thought of what his legacy would read like. And for a man such as he, maybe that is worth it to stir his base into a frenzy to commit violence based on his fears, his insecurities, their fears...
I think he has lost his mind. And that is a scary thing considering he just might be our next President. Maybe Presidents should have mental competency tests.
But then again, he may always have been like this and it is just coming out in the last throes of his campaign.
But it is a thought to be considered.
Does it make me more compassionate towards him? Not really, but it just makes a little more sense to me why he is so full of hate and what seems to me to be fear.
If fear is the mind killer, then McCain and his 'base'; their minds have reached the stage of rigor mortis.
