You gotta read the quotes in these editorials below guys!
Well. We all know how important Ohio is to the election (whether Obama needs Ohio to win or not this election). Also, Ohio, along with Missouri, is usually a bellwether that highlights the stubborn middle of our country.
But two Ohio news papers, The Toledo Blade and The Dayton Daily News, stepped to the plate and gave Obama some wonderful endorsements today, crystallizing the dilemma we face, and illuminating what us progressives have noticed in Obama all along.
I highlighted some passages below.
But honestly, there are so many juicy passages in these editorial full throated editorials(that I couldn't put them all to meet Kos editorial standards) to list.
I urge every Kossack to read these two truly outstanding, historical, analytical, heart warming editorials.

The Toledo Blade starts their editorial by setting up the grave situation we're currently in:
AS THE nation wavers precariously at the precipice of economic ruin, American voters must decide who has the knowledge, steadiness, judgment, and inspirational qualities to lead us effectively out of that morass, for the next four years and beyond.
For guidance in arriving at this momentous decision, the election of the next president of the United States, we can look to the sober lessons of history. Without exaggeration, the country faces a transformational election on Nov. 4, not unlike that of 1932, which prefaced Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal and a long slog out of the Great Depression
.
Yes! The Toledo Blade is echoing the great depression and FDR. The times are that grave, and Obama is that good and inspirational. The Toledo Blade continue. After beaming over Obama's intelligence, intellect, and his Abraham Lincoln-like Oratory, and rise to succession through humble beginnings, the paper continues with their astute analysis and observation of Obama:
The man who has emerged is young (47) but well-educated and accomplished, both as a state legislator and a member of the United States Senate. He is somewhat professorial but not stodgy, and in our direct contact with him he proved to be one of few politicians at his level with the capacity to actually listen to others and appreciate what they have to say
During the campaign, Senator Obama also has shown himself to possess steely self-control, a single-minded focus, and endearing good humor in the face of specious attacks on everything from his biracial origin to his boyhood upbringing to his acquaintances during his political career in rough-and-tumble Chicago.
His calm and deliberate demeanor is particularly important because steadiness at the helm of government will be necessary to extricate the United States from its current crisis of confidence, both in politics and economics..
Before they reach their conclusion, that Obama is the man of the future that has inspired generation of newcomers, they offer a harsh rebuke of McCain:
Sen. John McCain, by nature, has shown himself to be incapable of providing the American people with an optimistic vision of the future. Firmly rooted in the failed politics and policies of the past, he cannot guide us on a path he does not see.
The Dayton Daily News, starts off their editorial in somber, but accurate fashion:
In this unhappy passage, the nation faces a happy choice: a brilliant young man offering a new generation of leadership — and a remarkable turning point in the nation's history — opposes an accomplished veteran who has punched all the right tickets in his rise toward the presidency.
How true. Obama is brilliant, and McCain is just a politician that's been in office too long, offering stale ideas and leadership.
After hammering McCain for not being a "Maverick No More", and giving into the right wholesale, the Dayton Daily News slams McCain and his campaign:
Sen. McCain's campaign has been as disappointing as his move toward party orthodoxy. More than his opponent, he has run a relentless stream of commercials that have been discredited by nonpartisan fact-checkers. (Last week, all his ads were negative.)
He has articulated no vision for the country other than to suggest that it should believe in him as an individual, as a war hero of independent judgment.
After reporting his rise, and analyzing his stance on the war etc, the Dayton Daily News, gives one of the best, shortest and most accurate quotes of Obama I've ever seen in this next paragraph. The die is cast:
But in a time of change, Sen. Obama is the more promising leader. With his agile mind, often pitch-perfect judgment and preternatural calm and self-confidence, he seems built for the job of sorting through this thing, if anybody can.
The nation faces a choice that looks more and more like a choice between the future and the past. It has never been one to shrink from the future
Wow! I think that says it all. I love that "agile mind, pitch perfect judgment and preternatural calm and self confidence" line.
It's no suprise that Obama is debate prepping in Ohio this weekend, as he did in Florida and North Carolina previously. Obama is smart. Those three states, offer a mother lode of electoral votes, combined with making a profound statement in those hard fought states. Good for Obama.
I also hope to see Obama find some time to campaign in Georgia and West Virgina (where polls are showing a tightening race; one with a statistical tie in Georgia, and another, albeit ARG, shows Obama with an 8 point lead in West Virginia). Shoot! Montana Governor, Brian Sweitzer, recently said on CNN, that Montana is actually tied now with Ron Paul on the Ballot.
Let's hope Obama spends his time well (as I'm sure he will), and make this a landslide in these incredible times!
We need grown ups again running our government, and providing quality, intelligent over sight on our industry.
Enough said!
