Full Analysis from Democracy Corps
Their new poll is consistent with the WaPo/ABC poll yesterday showing a double digit lead for Obama (50% versus 40%).
And, importantly, they found Obama is leading McCain among independents by 14 points (47 to 33 percent).
On thing that is worrying is that they also found 60 percent of the voters moving away from McCain are now undecided and still not ready to support Barack Obama. The messages that work best to reassure swing voters and lead them to support Obama include health care, fighting for American jobs and the economy and being for the middle class.
They've found Obama has made gains in:
-- reassuring voters about his experience
-- coming across as authentic
-- being seen as sharing voters' values
-- being seen as honest and trustworthy
-- being more trusted on the economy
And they found that:
Obama significantly improved his standing compared to McCain on national security. Obama cut John McCain’s lead on this measure in half and, more importantly, voters are now split on whether they trust John McCain or Barack Obama more to handle the war in Iraq.
It seems that the winds are all blowing in the right direction, but there's still more than 20 days to go...
