This is from today's "Meet the Press", October 19th. This is one of the best things that I have ever heard during this campaign. It's long, but it's nearly history making. Sit and watch, it's worth your time:
I didn't post this merely because of Powell's endorsement, although I do welcome and celebrate it. I posted this because I couldn't agree with Gen. Powell more, especially in his reflections of the McCain campaign and its use of separation politics, which worked in 2000 and 2004, but no more.
I've long admired Colin Powell, and always thought he would have made an amazing president. Unfortunately, due to his unwillingness to pander to the Rightcons in the Republican party, which absolutely needs to happen in order to get the endorsement of the party, he chose not to run. To me, Powell represents the best of America: reasoned, inspirational, and inclusive. Hearing him talk about the McCain's attempt to clarify the persistent lie of Obama's religious beliefs, and the story of the mother at her son's grave in Arlington, is poetry.
Kudos Gen. Powell. Thanks for being the sense of reason in an unreasonable time.
