Once again McCain is acting erratic. First he accuses Obama's contributions of being shady, and in the same day (within hours) McCain's campaign is accused of soliciting a group. The first post is "original post". Is it possible that McCain's campaign will say ANYTHING...ANYTHING substantive? No. For the rest of the campaign they will attack attack ATTACK!!!
UPDATE!!!!
Okay this might quite well be as ridiculous as it sounds...but still. They question Obama's campaign contributors the same day Russia says "sorry McCain, we don't do political contributions".
McCain camp hits up Russian envoy
Russia's permanent mission to the UN has received a letter from U.S. Republican presidential candidate John McCain asking for financial support of his election campaign, the mission said in a statement on Monday.
"We have received a letter from Senator John McCain with a request for a financial donation to his presidential election campaign. In this respect we have to reiterate that neither Russia's permanent mission to the UN nor the Russian government or its officials finance political activities in foreign countries," the statement said.
According to Ruslan Bakhtin, press secretary of the Russian mission, the letter dated September 29 and signed by McCain, was addressed to Vitaly Churkin, Russia's envoy to the UN, and arrived on October 16.
The ambassador's title was not included in the letter, and was not clear why the letter had taken over two weeks to arrive.
Enclosed was a request for a donation of up to $5,000 to McCain's election campaign to be returned with a check or permission to withdraw the money from the donor's credit card until October 24.
ORIGINAL POST
I'm not a political pundit, I'm not a professional writer. I'm just a voter. If you listen to the McCain campaign I live in the communist area of Virginia, not the "real" Virginia. I'm a military brat, but spent my high school years in the "real" portion of North Carolina. I moved to the Northern Virginia area to get a better job where I could afford to raise my son on a single income. I came from a mill town that has closed almost all of it's mills because of the economy and jobs being shipped overseas.
I've been following the presidential campaign as close as a person with a television with cable and access to the internet can. I don't rely on one "news" source and certainly don't believe every thing I read. I know that I don't consider myself above falling for spin, and so I try to "Google" facts when I doubt their validity. I love articles with links to the source of their findings.
I'm writing this diary with an idea. Today I read an article on the Huffington Post that McCain is accusing the Obama campaign of collecting campaign funds from sources that are illegal. Maybe there is a "shinier" way to put it, but that's essentially what I got from the article. I can tell you that I was outraged enough to write a diary in the middle of a work day.
So if I understand this properly and listen to the McCain campaign (I'm still amazed that some people do), we should believe that only un-American, unpatriotic, socialists support Barrack Obama's campaign. Also, if you are African American, you are only supporting him because he's black.
Wow. No really, WOW.
So an idea just poofed into my head. I can't really prove that we are pro-America (though my choice of candidate should). I can't prove that I'm patriotic (though my family's military service should), and I can't prove that I'm not voting on race (though my multi-racial heritage should). So I decided to address an issue I can prove. McCain would like the Obama campaign to provide a report of every single person who gave campaign contributions to McCain. I believe there are 3.1 million of us.
I donate to the Obama campaign pretty regularly. I think it would be a great idea for every Obama campaign contributor to send a very friendly non-threatening email to the McCain campaign that reads:
Hi, my name is xxx. It came to my attention that you were questioning the source of Senator Obama's campaign funds. I'd like to assist you with tracking this fundraising phenomenon and note that today I made a contribution of xxx. I would also like to add that I support Barrack Obama for his specific policies and his ability to run a clean campaign and my support is not related to his race or any religious beliefs he may have.
I did so on my own behalf and the donation came from my personal funds.
Many thanks,
xxxxx
I don't have his email address. If you do, that would be a big help. I only have the link to Senator McCain's contact form on his senate page, which is linked below. I don't know how I feel about giving McCain my email address, but I guess I could create one for this purpose. Maybe use one of those temp address sites? Maybe even a petition might work?
McCain's Senate Contact Page
I'd love your help on this!
