So I've been browsing the excellent fundrace tool on the huffington post that allows you to search for donations in excess of $200 or so (which is too bad, because as a poor college student it means I can't search myself!).
Check it out here: http://fundrace.huffingtonpost.com/
It's fun to look at the graphical representations of different regions (especially from 2004 to 2008 - you can really see huge swaths of the country turn blue).
And some interesting tidbits I found:
Colin Powell donated the maximum $2,300 to the McCain campaign in late 2007:

Obamaa donated the max to Clinton's campaign and Clinton donated the max to Obama's. Seems kind of contrived - it's like two people giving each other cash or something for Christmas.
John Kerry gave $25,000 to the DNC, one of the largest donations I came across
McCain doesn't appear to have any contributions
Chris Dodd seems to have donated $4,600 to... Chris Dodd
Searching for 'CEO' as occupation yields a lot of donations in excess of $2,300 or even $4,600 to individual candidates - anybody know how that is possible/legal? 11 million to dems and 3.5 million to Republicans from CEOs, funnily enough.
'retired' gives 95 million to Democrats and just 89 million to Republicans
Markos only has two donations on record: $1,000 to Berkowitz Q1 '08 and $25 to the DNC in '04.
I'm having fun... anybody else see anything noteworthy?
