So my ballot arrived the other day and I thought I would put out my voter’s guide just for fun. I’m not going to list all the races just the ones I voted for.
I-985
This measure would open high-occupancy vehicle lanes to all traffic during specified hours, require traffic light synchronization, increase roadside assistance funding, and dedicate certain taxes, fines, tolls and other revenues to traffic-flow purposes.
I voted no because it would fill up the carpool lanes and think divert money from education and health care into unspecified freeway projects
I-1000
Death with Dignity
This measure would permit terminally ill, competent, adult Washington residents, who are medically predicted to have six months or less to live, to request and self-administer lethal medication prescribed by a physician.
I voted yes, people who are terminally ill have a right to die with dignity.
I-1029
This measure would require long-term care workers to be certified as home care aides based on an examination, with exceptions; increase training and criminal background check requirements; and establish disciplinary standards and procedures.
More training for care-workers sounds good to me
President
I’m going to let you guys guess who (here’s a hint it the guy from Chicago)
Governor
Christine Gregoire
Four Years ago I didn’t vote in the governor’s race cause Gregoire didn’t impress me. She really changed my mind this past four years so I proudly case my vote for her.
US Representative
Jay Inslee
Two of my closest friends are represented in congress by Bill Sali and Michelle Bachmann. I am very lucky to have a great congressman.
Secretary of State
Sam Reed
The only Republican I voted for, he has done a good job and I was reading a progressive voting guide and they also endorsed him for a job well done; seems popular with Democrats.
Attorney General
John Landenburg
This was a hard choice for me because I think Rob McKenna has done a decent job but it seems like Landenburg will be the better choice due to his experience. My gut tells me McKenna will win (he did win the primary). A lot of Democrats like him, and he has shown he his no wing nut (whether it is telling his party that they can’t strip citizenship from kids of illegal immigrants or suing the WA GOP for Campaign Finance Violations)
State Treasure
Jim McIntire
When I worked as an Obama Fellow this summer the people at the office really thought McIntire was well qualified so he got my vote.
Commissioner of Public Lands
Peter Goldmark
Goldmark has shown he has the knowledge to be a good Commissioner of Public Lands
Judges
I just voted for the ones the progressive voting guides endorsed since I do not know too much about the people running.
That is all,
