Huffington Post has a story about Rick Sanchez of CNN's attempt to interview Daniel Zubairi. Zubairi is a McCain supporter, delegate, and campaign worker, who is a Muslim American.
At a McCain rally in Virginia, Zubairi confronted a group of crazy McCain supporters who were smearing Obama for being a Muslim, and in the process, smearing Islam itself. They were handing out these stupid bumper stickers that said change in red and white (the colors of Islam), and the crescent moon and star were made into the "C" and a hammer and sickle (WTF?) were made into the "G". Several Muslim McCain supporters confronted the crazies, and at least one non-Muslim as well. One woman said the crazy, Islamist smears were going to cost them her vote. Then Zubairi came out and made it very clear that the McCain campaign does not endorse the racist views of the weirdos with the bumper stickers. The whole thing was caught on tape.
Rick Sanchez of CNN saw the video and booked Zubairi with the McCain campaign's approval, but at the last minute, they nixed the interview. Sanchez wondered why.
Well, I'll give you my theory. If your whole strategy is to rile up racism in order to get out the hate vote, you do not want Muslims speaking for the McCain camp. Their strongest supporters at this point are racist loonies who hate Black people and think all Muslims are terrorists. McCain can't afford to loose the crazy racist vote, so he is hiding Zubairi. This is just my theory. What do you think?
