...and he should be thanked profusely!
All as I've mentioned before, I have worked the elections in my home county for the Dem. party since 2004. Our County Clerk is a Republican but I have always found him to be fair and a good guy. He proved it once again today.
Because of the dramatic and high turnout in our county he has extended the early voting hours!
Early voting will now be from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. It ends at noon Nov. 3.
"I thought, with the amount of interest we’ve had in this election, we should give people every chance they’ve got to get in and vote," Fielder (Jim) said.
He said he’s worried that heavy interest in the November presidential election, coupled with a move earlier this year that downsized the number of county precincts, might mean lines at the polls on Election Day. Extending early voting hours could help alleviate that crunch, he said.
"There’s no sense waiting until Election Day to find out if we’ve had enough hours," Fielder said. "We don’t want to give people a reason not to vote."
So far 11,000 people have voted and broke the turn out record set in the primary. Fielder expects better than 50 percent turn out for the election.

If we had more Rep. like Mr. Fielder we could truly have bipartisanship in this country. Not to mention, we wouldn't have to worry about whether or not our elections were fair.
