Who wants to bet? $50 says Lugar makes a joint appearance with Barack in Indianapolis and endorses him.

Why else this hastily arranged stop just before flying to Hawaii? The buzz it will create will fill the 2-day silence while Barack visits with his grandmother.
Colin Powell's endorsement set the stage for this, so I think the plan all along was to start rolling out high-profile Republican endorsements right about now. The family emergency probably shifted the timing up a bit, that's all.
As for Senator Lugar, why not? Republicans will have little or no power in the next Senate, especially if we get to 60 (which is looking more likely with Mitch McConnell now in a dead heat in Kentucky). A key endorsement that delivers red state Indiana would guarantee Lugar influence in an Obama administration (if not a cabinet seat).
So who's in? Win or lose, all bets to be paid directly as donations to Obama!
(Update: here's a recent link describing the relationship between Obama and Lugar...and also (as some have mentioned below) that up until now, Lugar has been supporting McCain: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/... )
