I am being bombarded with tons of anti-Obama junk in my e-mail. I have requested several folks delete my address from their list and am bouncing and deleting others.
I was about to just delete them all, but I remembered that another, very wise friend told me that it was better to read them all so that I would understand exactly what I was up against as a liberal...a Democrat, so I continued reading. The second to the last one in my mailbox, is that one that has been around dozens of times about (oh how I wish this was true) what Bush's resignation speech would sound like and I noticed that someone had added the follow hate filled crap:
Now some of you morons want to be led by a junior senator with no understanding of foreign policy or economics, and this nitwit says we should attack Pakistan, a nuclear ally. And then he wants to go to Iran and make peace with a terrorist who says he's going to destroy us. While he's doing that, he wants to give Iraq to al Qaeda, Afghanistan to the Taliban, Israel to the Palestinians, and your money to the IRS so the government can give welfare to illegal aliens, who he will make into citizens, so they can vote to re-elect him. He also thinks it's okay for Iran to have nuclear weapons, and we should stop our foreign aid to Israel. Did you sleep through high school?
Huh??? What in the hell, now I'm stupid????, but I kept reading and then there was this: Making matters worse, you actively support those who help the enemy. Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to a cut-and-run Democrat's political campaign, well, dang it, you might just as well FedEx a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing.
Lets see, stupid, support terrorist, a coward supporting a coward, and and giving away someones $$ to illegal aliens. And....and, he just called my future President a nitwit. Boy that sure goes a really long way to bring us all together.
OK, now I am really irritated, but then this e-mail then labels me as not loving God and being delusional. This from a person who truly thinks that Bush did a good job. I'm delusional???? That's a joke, right???
I take a few breaths, go get a glass of water and am really glad that I am down to the last e-mail and when I bring it up, here is what I read.
Something to think about. Please.
We've already had a president whose educational background has proven that we need a sharp leader who actually understands what is going on.
If Sarah Palin is elected vice president, and John McCain were to become ill, we could be in real trouble. At least the Democrats have a team that can compliment each other, and have something on the ball.
If all the undecideds think about it, what kind of a leader has John McCain been during his own campaign? Even his own party is saying that he has run a poor campaign. Is this what we want said of our country after another few years of Republican leadership? (I can't even say four years where John McCain is concerned). Sarah Palin could be running the greatest nation in the world. Is she really qualified? Obama has waged a great campaign and has chosen people to advise him who seem to know what they are doing. Why are we fighting that? At least, if Obama were to become ill, Joe Biden has had the experience with foreign policy and running a government.
The most important issue is that the Republicans are trying to say that Obama wants to redistribute the wealth. Isn't this what the Republican's have been doing for eight years? The only thing is, that the wealth went to the wealthy and didn't trickle down, it never trickles down. It was misplaced and disgraceful to give the rich more money to play with, when there were programs for disabled people that were being cut. The cut in taxes at the federal level only meant that we would suffer at the local level. Our quality of life has suffered. This from the Republicans. Not enough money to run our states.
Remember when Bush was elected and he had a majority of Republicans in the House and Senate? Their response was to shun the Democratic Party and say we don't need you. We'll do what we want. Well, they have proven that was wrong and the American people were not stupid. Now the Republicans are crying about Bi Partisanship. What a crock.
The Republicans were so intent on "getting Clinton" that they used precious resources to investigate every nook and cranny of his existance. What did they get? Something that many of them were guilty of. Infidelity. While they diverted all our resources into getting him, our enemy planned an attack on New York.
Don't be fooled by the evil things that are being thrown out in desperation by the Rush Limbaughs and Sean Hannitys. They figure if they throw lots of garbage out there, some idiots will think it's true and it might stick. These two figures spew hate and divide this nation. They serve no other purpose in the media. Regrettably, there are those that need to be led and they are like sheep.
I understand one of the major differences between the Democrats and Republicans is Roe vs. Wade. Not one Democrat thinks that abortion is a good choice. What we do know is that not too many years ago abortion was illegal. It didn't stop women from getting an abortion, it just forced poor women into dirty back rooms to get them. I don't know what the statistics are, but I am sure that many women died because of the situations they were forced into. At least they can make an informed decision based on what is best for them. Hopefully, they will choose life. But if they can't, they should have the right to make that decision themselves and not have someone else make it for them. Keep in mind that the rich were always able to get an abortion without too much trouble. So, abortion will not stop just because a law passes. It will go on. At least we should make sure that it is not done under the wrong circumstances and environments.
Please get out and vote. Just think about the above. I believe a rational American will make the right decision. Hopefully, there will be a lot more votes for Obama than McCain and we can get about the business of working together to rebuild our nation.
Good luck to us all. We need it.
A Desperate American who can't wait to get her beloved country back.
And below this bit of wisdom and calm, was what I see as sanity from the Obama side: "I could not agree with you more!! Voted yesterday for Obama and proud of it. We need thoughtful insightful, inspirational and intelligent leadership. When the republican VP candidate cannot even answer a third graders question on what is the role of the VP correctly (maybe hasn't referred to the Constitution) and incites people to yell 'kill him', 'terrorist', 'hang him' I wonder what country I am in...and it scares the bejesus out of me to think these 2 may have power. Where is integrity, where is basic truth. I watched the Palin rally and was physically sick to my stomach when those yells came and she said nothing to calm that at all. Obama has never brought up her husband's ties to an organization in Alaska that wants to succeed from the United States...that's character and character in leadership is what we need.
I pray that every night before Mr. Bush falls asleep he sees the young lives lost and maimed for his cowboy war and the lies he told to take these young people, hope of America, to an unnecessary war. ....just my opinion...
NOW............Go vote!!!!"
Thanks be to whoever, whatever, Karma, God, my Creator, what ever your name is, for calming my sanity. I needed to hear this, I needed this e-mail. Thank you, thank you. Now, tomorrow I will make my voice heard and VOTE.
