Yesterday was the first time in a long time that I was able to catch at least part of a Michelle Obama rally, and honestly the energy from the crowd was AMAZING in Pensacola, Florida. In the middle of the day on a TUESDAY morning over 7,000 Floridians came out to represent and show Michelle some love. Afterwards they marched to vote early. You can watch her speech here.
I can't really find any good pictures, but I did find a great article.
April Young, a 30-year-old loan processor, hugged her green jacket tightly around herself as she waited in line to hear Michelle Obama, wife of the Democratic presidential candidate, speak at a political rally Tuesday at the Pensacola Civic Center.
"I'm here because I support Barack Obama 100 percent, and I support his wife and children," the Pensacola resident said. "I've noticed that with (Michelle), she doesn't follow behind him. She actually goes up to people and speaks to them. She relates to people, and I really appreciate that and admire her for that."
Yeah, Michelle Rocks :o)
After doing her thing in Pensacola, she met up with her husband in Miami, Florida for a rally. There are a LOT more crowd pics (which I love) and lots of Michelle/Barack pics (which I also love):
Barack's full speech in Miami:
In this speech he goes after McCain for lying about Obama smearing Joe the Plumber. In Obama's words "I've not nothing but love for Joe the Plumber."
And I'm listening to the radio right now and Michelle is doing a radio interview, apparently he convinced Sasha and Malia to be scary instead of cute on Halloween. LOL. I couldn't understand what she said Malia was going as, but Sasha is going as a corpse bride? LOL!
Also, Barack IS going to be on SNL before the election according to Michelle. Someone asked her how Barack stays so cool, and she said "he cracks up all the time, he makes himself laugh" ~lol~ She also talks about how he does like 12 things at one time.
The campaign is doing an adopt five initiative to get people out to the polls, here's a video of Michelle talking about it:
Here's a totally cute story out of Nebraska:
My mom went out to take my toddler nephew for a stroller ride around the neighborhood, and I tagged along. We aimed for the playground and plopped him into the baby swing. Nearby, a group of elementary school kids was busy burying one of their own in the sand, and as I eavesdropped, the topic of politics somehow came up. An older boy with an American flag T-shirt seemed to issue a challenge to the younger kids, asking, "Aren't you for McCain?" A chorus of "no's" rose up. "McCain, yuck," one of them shouted, "Obama says he won't raise taxes on anybody making more than 250 million dollars!" "250 thousand," the older kid corrected. "Well, we don't make that much anyway," the younger one responded, "so it doesn't matter."
Those kids are smarter than the entire Republican ticket combined! They figured out Obama's tax plan! Out of the mouths of babes. . .
Al Bundy gets a tax cut with Obama!
Here's a new ad from aintfunny.org (although the commercial is pretty funny):
You can go to their website to donate and get the ad on TV :o)
Joe Biden and the Violence Against Women Act (how awesome is our VP)?
Oh, and I don't normally put McCain vids in my diaries, but this video is hilarious to me:
Also, there's a great article about why people should respect the Netroots on the Huffintgon post, you should check it out:
In the final days of the campaign, the netroots, whose ranks (and influence) have swelled since 2004, will redouble their efforts, working around the clock to elect Obama and expand the Democratic majority in Congress. They will attack McCain and Palin, fact-check the press and help lift Democrats to victory in races across the country. In their role as a central conduit of political information and opinion, they will calibrate, amplify, and disseminate the messages and themes that shape people's beliefs and bolster their convictions, providing the impetus for organizing, fundraising and GOTV. They will serve as the media's validator of first and last resort, confirming or denying traction on a daily flood of stories. And on November 4, 2008, eight long years of doing battle against the excesses of the Bush presidency will come to a triumphant conclusion.
In that seminal moment, much will be celebrated. And much forgotten. One thing that shouldn't be overlooked is the tortured path to that day and the ragtag group of activists who, from the fear of knowing that America had taken a terrible turn at the dawn of a millennium, embraced a new medium and labored tirelessly, thanklessly, defending the Constitution and the rule of law. Day after day, they congregated on websites, blogs, message boards and any other online forum they could find to write, debate, argue and resist a radical administration and a lockstep Republican Party. Mocked and feared, dismissed as 'angry' and treated with disdain, they fought their opponents, fought their own party, fought the media, fought one another, all to a single end, the defense of inviolable American ideals against a brazen onslaught from a shameful and shameless administration.
Remember, this is OUR campaign :o)
And as always, get out there and VOTE EARLY! In today's poll I'm combining states so I can get them all in the poll. If I still miss your state, charge it to my head and not to my heart :o)
and you can still donate and volunteer!!!
