I’m Barry Welsh and I am the Congressional Candidate for the Democratic Party in Indiana’s 6th District.
Tomorrow, many of the voters in my district will travel to our state capital, Indianapolis, and I will join them, as we will gather to hear Senator Barack Obama, the next President of the United States, address a record crowd.

I have had the opportunity to campaign with former Senator Birch Bayh, former Congressman Lee Hamilton, and tomorrow, I will get to shake hands with the Next President of the United States. The endorsements of Birch Bayh, and Lee Hamilton have done a lot for our campaign. We have just confirmed that tomorrow there is the possibility of an endorsement from Senator Obama.
We are already bringing huge numbers to the polls in early voting across this district, and we will be adding a few more after last night’s first debate with Congressman Mike Pence.
We have a second and final debate next Tuesday, one week before the election.
We can win this race. I know few outside of Indiana believe that, because of money, but if it were just money, they wouldn’t have votes, just fundraising contests to put people in office. Our goal last night was to reach the middle, and last night in the debate, three quarters of the people in the audience had Pence shirts on, and other than abortion and same sex marriage, those people were nodding in agreement with me on the framing of many issues, including the economy and Iraq. The final debate is on a more friendly turf for us as it is in Muncie. We are going to win in Anderson after last nights debate, and I think you will agree with me when you read the report. But we are going to win Muncie huge thanks to Ball State University. Anderson and Muncie are the two largest population centers in the district and decide the race quite frankly, so I have no trouble saying we can win.
We can lose too. If Pence attacks in the last week, we can’t defend. But it won’t take much to defend, and if we don’t have to defend we stay with the current message and expand it with what ever we bring in from now until next Friday. But after last night, even Mike Pence believes we can win.
I have two powerful endorsements from Indiana political giants, and if I get the third, from Senator Obama tomorrow, I am going to ask for help with getting 1000 donors to each give fifty dollars to beat Mike Pence. I am going to need some help from other kos community members, that is why I am mentioning it now. Hopefully some will help us and can use the thread to discuss that possibility.
I will drop in tomorrow night and write a quick diary after I finish speaking at a county JJ dinner. I hope I am announcing a major endorsement and asking for a mini Tinklenberg.
