As the race for the White House enters its final days, the Big Ten Battleground Poll shows Barack Obama holds significant leads over John McCain in eight crucial Midwest states.
Those states were key battlegrounds in the 2004 election, and last month the Big Ten Battleground Poll showed a tight race in all of those states but Illinois, which Obama represents in the U.S. Senate. The first poll was taken just as the U.S. financial crisis first intensified and before the massive decline in the stock market, when McCain was enjoying his highest poll numbers of the campaign in the Big Ten and nationally.
"In September, we saw virtually the entire Big Ten as a battleground," said Franklin, co-developer of Pollster.com. "Now Obama is clearly winning the Big Ten battleground. The dominance of the economy as a top issue for voters is the overwhelming story."
The new Big Ten poll shows Obama ahead in every Big Ten state, including Indiana, where McCain held a slight edge in September, and Ohio and Pennsylvania, where last month's poll results showed the two candidates in a dead heat.
The problem with the Ayers thing is that it never made any sense. Many people know or work with someone that might have done or did do bad things in their past. That doesn't make you yourself bad. Most people were not going to label another person bad as a result of this. A lot of people understand exactly what that feels like.
What the McCain campaign basically did was say that if you know or knew someone that did something horrible then you yourself are bad or something is wrong with you. Their line of attack wasn't just an attack on Obama but also could be seen as an attack on everyone else as well.
As I understand it, most voter suppression is occurring in battleground or swing states, so if you live in a solid blue state, it's still critical to get out and vote. Imagine this scenario. Obama takes all solid blue states with big numbers, but loses all or most battleground and swing states (due to some kind of Republican tampering). Now, if the blue states show a landslide, we have a lot more ammunition to call fraud in the other states where polling showed an Obama lead. So don't get nonchalant just because your state is expected to go for Obama. Every vote counts this time around.
The biggest mistake we can make is to "Count our chickens before they hatch"! We must act like we are losing this election until it's over.
I also think the Obama/Biden campaign needs to save some of those millions of dollars for the possible legal battles we will be fighting after they try to steal the election again. Until I see Obama with his hand up in the air on 1/20/09 at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, I will not believe it. The Republicans will try to steal this election like they always do.
The more desperate the GOP become the more they will attempt to steal this election with phone jams, and the like. I don't trust them or their minions and campaign lobbyist. They will say and do anything to win. For them it's not about country first, it's about party first and winning. So, everyone don't get comfortable, vote, and if you have problems when voting don't leave until they make it right, it's too critical.
Let's face it people. More and more every day, I hear people saying Obama's lead is due to "liberal media bias." As outstandingly ignorant as it may be, some people are small minded and cannot think for themselves. This slander could affect some of "our" people so to speak.
Because, yeah sure. There has to be another reason besides the fact that people reject the neo-con agenda, John McCain's divisive politics and the republican hate machine. Let's blame that damn liberal media. They're always a good scapegoat. You know, I love all this talk about "liberal media bias". They call out the New York Times, Washington Post, or CNN. What about the New York Post, Wall Street Journal, Washington Times or Fox News? Those aren't liberal, are they? For every liberal paper in America theres a conservative counterpart in the same city or region. Just turns out more liberals read their papers and watch their news outlets. So instead of blaming the "liberal media bias", blame the ignorant conservatives, or the Rupert Murdochs of the world for not having enough people to read or listen to their crap.
Negativity magnetises its opposite, and the positive pole is attaining critical mass throughout the collective consciousness globally active. We are all similar in our aspirations, and we have been given an opportunity to express our best and most noble aspirations to work for mutual benefit and respect. The negative tactics compel each person to react in the only way capable of escaping from the manipulation of fear so deftly exploited by Atwater, Rove and their shills. This is an historic moment when each vote will be recognized throughout the world as the way forward, rather than as a retreat into isolation and anger.
This is our election. Don't forget that. At this moment, act as if we were 10 points behind. This is critical, it is time to take OUR America back from these nut jobs. The race isn't over. The race will not be over until Tuesday, November 4, 2008.
