I've been following the tracking polls here but haven't seen any writeups on this piece of lunacy.
The latest IBD/TIPP tracking poll has some, um, unusual results:
The overall Obama/McCain/undecided split is 45.7/42.0/12.3, Obama +3.7. However, the breakdown by income looks like this:
Obama McCain Undecided
Under $30k 50 38 12 (O+12)
$30-50k 50 39 11 (O+11)
$50-75k 48 43 9 (O+5)
Over $75k 44 45 11 (M+1)
The numbers just don't add up, most blatantly in the undecided numbers. How do you average 12, 11, 9, and 11 (I'll even be generous with rounding off and call it 12.49, 11.49, 9.49, and 11.49) and come up with 12.3?
This is bullshit, pure and simple. None of the numbers in this poll can be trusted, although I do want to point out one more breakdown (in more ways than one), without further comment:
Age Obama McCain Undecided
18-24 43 53 4
25-44 47 44 9
45-64 48 36 16
65+ 40 46 14
