Just announced today, for the first time in 14 years, there are officially more registered Democrats than Republicans in heavily contested Douglas County, Nebraska, which is almost the entirety of Nebraska-02!
If this isn't the sign of the end of the Conservative Movement, then nothing is!
From the Omaha World-Herald: (emphasis and parentheses mine)
For the first time in 14 years, there are more Democrats registered to vote in Douglas County than Republicans.
This year began with the Republicans holding a 12,000 registration advantage in the county. That means Democrats have made up a lot of ground and then some. (There are now 2,647 more registered 2,647 more Ds than Rs)
*snip*
Democrats added about 30,000 names to the statewide voter rolls since January, while Republicans added about 1,200.
Of course NE-02 includes more than just the City of Omaha/Douglas County. Offutt Airforce Base, STRATCOM, is located just 15 minutes south on the JFK Expressway, in the City of Bellevue. That area is typically much more conservative in nature, but it also has a much smaller population.
This is huge, because a recent poll done by Anzalone List had Democrat Jim Esch closing to within 1 percentage point of 5 term incumbent Lee Terry.
Anyway, sorry for the brevity of this diary, but I have an early dinner on the stove right now, so take that GOP!
NE-2 Democratic Candidates:
House:
Jim Esch
Senate:
Scott Kleeb
