Why does the "B" carved into the face of maiming victim Ashley Tood appear to be in reverse image?
Can you say "Tawana Brawley"?
Look, I could be totally wrong here and Wo! to me to cast aspersions on the victim of a crime.
And I'm going on one small photograph on a web page (see http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/... ) which I admit right up front that I may not be interpreting correctly...and if I'm not, I apologise to one and all beforehand.
But am I correct in saying that the "B" carved into the face of Ashley Todd (linked to above) appears to be a reverse "B"?
Todd claimed to have been robbed and beaten at an ATM in the Pittsburg area and once the attacker noticed a McCain bumpersticker on her car decided to carve a "B" on her face ("B" as in "Barack").
But who writes a "B" in reverse? Certainly, mirror-writing is a recognized physiological condition (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/... ) and the alleged perp could be suffering from it.
There are, however, other possibilities.
And dare I invoke the name of Tawana Brawley?
Assuming no other accomplices and that she were acting alone, wouldn't someone who wanted to claim that an attacker carved a "B" onto her face have had to create the "B" herself? And wouldn't that almost necessarily have to be done in front of a mirror (gosh, I'd be afraid to do it without a mirror)?
If so, I can see how one could easily make the mistake of doing it in reverse...after all, I would have to assume that carving B's on to one's face is not a daily occurance and if it was the first time, one could make that mistake.
Anyway, I'm just throwing this hypothesis out there for everyone's consideration...and I'll be more than willing to stand corrected if there are other legitimate explanations. Again, far be it for me to denigrade the horrible experiences of a crime victim.
