After consecutive quarterly losses in the billions, National City Bank is being eaten up.
With the government's help, PNC financial is taking over NCB, based in NE Ohio. I heard yesterday that NCB is planning at least 4,000 job cuts - just what NE Ohio needs.
Here's the first article I've seen on this today.
I've been a National City Bank customer since I was 16, when I opened my first checking account with them. I'm 32 now. My years of being a customer had some advantages, such as no fee checking even without meeting the usual requirements. Lower interest rates. No waiting period for depositing large checks.
I wonder if PNC will continue these things or not. I've never used or even been to a PNC bank before. I hope they are as good as NCB has been.
