It seems odd to me that a consultant used by a campaign for making robocalls would be responsible for the wardrobe of the VP candidate. I wonder if this budget item wasn't a bit of accounting sleight of hand to pass on a McCain campaign expense to the RNC.
What if Sarah Palin was outfitted in a wardrobe costing $25,000 - $50,000 with the vast majority of the money paid to a robocall consultant who "earned" the $100,000(+) by putting the purchases on his credit. It is certainly doubtful that he selected the clothes for her, although he may have hired a fashion coordinator for the task. That probably would have eaten up another five grand or so.
Being cash poor, it would help the McCain camp a lot if they could dump some of their consulting expenses into the lap of the RNC so it wouldn't count against their $84 million budget. So, maybe the RNC paid for $100,000 in robocalling and hid it in Governor Palin's accessories.
What do you think?
