this willl be brief but I want to testify..there is something happening here alright and it is beautiful. Probably the best voting experience ever. Such a remarkable contrast to 2004, where I was full of uncertainty angst really- of another potential stolen election,I was right to worrry then.
this time though I came to the voting place, a local library and I dunno it was hard to believe this was an election. For all the signs, cars and well trained courteous staff (wait to vote was 7 minutes!!) there was a feel of absolute summer picknicing.
There was an ice cream truck in the distance, a very easy relaxed crowd hanging out that had already voted
and that is the point; no one really wanted to leave. There was an openess and a joy that you dont get often in this part of town...folks saying God bless you when they saw an Obama sticker on my shirt, music playing softly in the background. The new Wassuppp video was a big hit (played on the iphone). People had brought out lawn chairs to hang out in the parking lot, sitting in the grass just chatting with each other...all of us kind of had this look on our face..like ..damn..we just did that...
I don't know if i am conveying this correctly nor if I have the literary skill to do so. Yet it is worth sharing as we keep our focus and leave everything on the road.. there are something beautiful experiences out there for us more and more everyday.
a piss poor shot of folks hanging out as the poles close for today...didntwant to intrude on anyone so went for a distance shot via the iphone. Clearly it does not convey the amount of people as so many had sat down...ah well...no nat geo career for me.
