AP Article
Syria's state-run television and witnesses say U.S. military helicopters have attacked an area along the country's border with Iraq, causing casualties.
The report quoted unnamed Syrian officials and said the area is near the Syrian border town of Abu Kamal. It gave no other details on Sunday's attack.
I have significant doubts about this report so I wouldn't read into too significantly. But, given that the US has done cross border raids into Pakistan, an attack across the border in Syria is possible.
I'll post more as it comes online.
Update 2:
I tried to find the article on Syria's news website SANA and all they have is a banner saying:
المروحيات الأميركية تعتدي على مبنى مدني بالبوكمال وتقتل 8 مواطنين
Translation (from google, my translation skills will only go so far):
U.S. helicopters attack on a civilian building in Abu Kamal and kill 8 people
The website www.syria-news.com has this article. It gives a few more details and says that the village is only 5km from the Iraqi border and that 7 people were killed. Go read the page yourself (or translate it on google, though google's arabic translator is kinda unreliable) if you want more info.
I'm trying to find some other English sources.
Update 2:
CNN still has nothing.
MSNBC
Al Jazeera (English)
Al Jazeera (Arabic)
All those sources basically say the same thing so no real updates, they all just added some background info on the town.
