As reported on Talking Points Memo, the Obama campaign has released a memo to the media outlining what the speech will say. The speech will be given tomorrow starting in Canton, OH.
In his speech, Senator Obama will tell voters that after twenty-one months and three debates, Senator McCain still has not been able to tell the American people a single major thing he'd do differently from George Bush when it comes to the economy. Obama will ask Americans to help him change this country, and say that in just one week, they can choose an economy that rewards work and creates new jobs and fuels prosperity from the bottom-up, they can choose to invest in health care for our families and education for our kids and renewable energy for our future, and they can choose hope over fear, unity over division and the promise of change over the power of the status quo.
Also, Obama's NEW national TV ad plus thoughts AND your opinions below the fold.
On its face, it seems as though this is version 2.0 of what Barack has been saying all along. I'm confident he'll put his usual touch on the speech.
Also, here is a brand new Obama ad denouncing the McCain campaign they've taken nationally:
Its pretty effective. I love the music!!! My hope is that the argument has to be made that the kind of campaign McCain is running is just destructive to the country. Barack, in my opinion, needs to demonstratively denounce the kind of attacks the McCain campaign has launched. I think it would belittle the McCain campaign. I don't want him to use words like "silly season," I want him to use words like "immoral," "lies," and "fucking assholes."
I don't know how to precisely put it into words, but what McCain and Palin are appealing to brings about the absolute worst in our society instead of appealing to the hope of our society.
I would be eternally embarrassed if I was a moderate McCain supporter. Their entire GOTV strategy relies on the racist vote, the xenophobe vote, the homophobic vote, etc. Its morally painful to watch.
John McCain has the stench of hate in his campaign. Sara Palin is a vile maladroit that finds comfort in preying on the worst in people.
Shame on John McCain.
Shame on Sara Palin.
With about 200 hours left in the campaign, I don't think anyone can deny the effectiveness of David Plouffe and David Axelrod. They've never panicked. They've never delved into the politics of the pathetic as the McCain campaign has. The most amazing thing is that they've put their faith in the American people, just as Barack has done. Hopefully, we'll be returning the favor on November 4th.
Also, the decency and character of Barack Obama, even with the most disgusting attacks thrown at him, has continued to amaze me.
Although all we have to go on is the early voting numbers, needless to say, EVERYONE will be voting in this election, including the youth vote. I also haven't heard a peep about the Latino vote. All we heard during the Democratic Primaries concerned the Latino vote. Polling data suggests it will tilt huge for Barack. Translation: NM, CO, NV.
As a native Floridian, a former resident of Tampa and a current resident of Fort Lauderdale, I couldn't tell you what's going to happen here. All I know is that I attended a Barack rally in downtown Miami last week where 50,000 turned out. 50,000 turned out for Barack in Orlando last week. Its possible we'll go blue. Its possible we won't. I know that there is an extremely dedicated group of volunteers trying to turn Florida blue and I thank them profusely.
As a side note, I'm a Miami Dolphins season ticket holder. At the game today (which we kicked Buffalo's ass by the way), I was in shock to see the amount of big ass 4x4 trucks with Obama bumper stickers, and "real Americans" wearing Obama t shirts and buttons.
Anyone have thoughts on: MO, PA, OH, NC, VA, IN?
