There's been a shooting at the University of Central Arkansas, in Conway, AR.
Apparently this is the ONLY local site that has info on the situation right now.. http://www.arktimes.com
UCA shooting
KATV Channel 7 is reporting that the campus of the University of Central Arkansas is on lockdown at this hour after reports of gunfire on campus. Students have called in to the station to say they heard shooting outside their dorm room. More information as it develops.
The news report I just heard was that 3 people were shot, 2 killed.. the shooter is in custody.
Updates as they occur.. this just happened. Fuck, this is my old college, I just graduated last year. I really, really hope that my friends are okay.
UPDATE #1: From the Arkansas Times website:
School shooting at UCA, this is from a text message my kid just got from a friend who goes there. It says 2 dead, 1 shooter caught, 1 on the run.
I have no idea if any of this is true, but this is what her friend at UCA just texted her.
UPDATE 2:
Update from Channel 11 a few minutes ago said one student was in critical condition. Also that witnesses reported that a white car with several people inside that drove through and shot at the students.
UPDATE 3: It sounds like there was a drive-by outside one of the dorms. 4 suspects, 1 in custody. The campus apparently is still locked down, none of my friends know what the fuck is going on. Any current UCA students or faculty reading this and care to update?
UPDATE 4: And this diary is off the main page.. just as well I guess, I have to go to bed soon.
To summarize:
There was a shooting at the University of Central Arkansas tonight around 10:30pm. It appears to have been a driveby between two dorms, State Hall and Arkansas Hall. One student was killed at the scene, and another died at the hospital. A third victim is in stable condition at the local hospital. There are four suspects, one is in custody.
UPDATE 5: I've heard who died. Because their names aren't being released unofficially released, I'm not going to post it here.
Please pray for the victim's families and for the community.
