I've been writing a piece in my head for days now entitled, Why I didn't vote for John McCain. I'm not sure I'll actually get pen to paper, or keyboard to screen, as I am focusing my attention on finishing a vid to support Obama which will be posted here.
However, what my guts have been telling me about McCain: he lies; he cheats; he's ignorant; he's a fearful fear mongerer and crap stirrer; he is a maverick—a dissenter among his associates—for sure; he has no leadership qualities whatsoever; his desire to be president is to satisfy a twisted genetic obligation as the offspring of two four-star admirals, to fluff his own sorry resumé with the 'ultimate job', and because the legend in his own mind actually feels he deserves to be, has been substantiated in this thoroughly researched and written article by Tim Dickinson for Rolling Stone, in the October 16th issue.
It is recommended reading for everyone. But if you know of anyone who is undecided with regard to who they are going to vote for, I beseech you to send this link to them so they can read about this deadly, Rovian candidate for themselves. Here's the link, from which I pulled this excerpt:
In the end, the essential facts of John McCain's life and career — the pivotal experiences in which he demonstrated his true character — are important because of what they tell us about how he would govern as president. Far from the portrayal he presents of himself as an unflinching maverick with a consistent and reliable record, McCain has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to taking whatever position will advance his own career. He "is the classic opportunist," according to Ross Perot, who worked closely with McCain on POW issues. "He's always reaching for attention and glory."
The only reason John McGAIN wants to be president is because, he wants to be president. We've had a man with the same ambition supposedly governing this country for the last eight years. It just isn't good enough.
