Tell Barack. A simple idea. When Barack Obama is sworn in as President of the United States on January 20, 2009 he has a big job ahead of him. He needs our help.
We need to tell him what we want him to do. Barack Obama would be the first one to tell us that he works for us - the citizens of the United States. And it is our job to take time to let him know what we him to do.
Why is this important?
It is not just our RIGHT to tell our leaders what we want them to do, it is our DUTY. To a certain degree Americans want to lay back and let someone else do the work - and then complain about it when it doesn't turn out the way we want.
Are we just lazy? Maybe. But we are also trusting. Trusting that the people we put into office will do the right thing. If we haven't learned anything in the past 8 years of the Bush administration, it is clear that they are not to be trusted.
We have created a web site called Tell Barack at http://tellbarack.org. It provides a forum for people to "Tell Barack" what they want him to do. But the second - and maybe more important goal - is to give everyone the chance to get involved to change America.
Tell Barack. Of course we don't want to take our eye off the ball for the election coming up on November 4. But one of the reasons to work so hard - and why we have all been working so hard these past months - is knowing what it is going to feel like on November 5.
Picture waking up and seeing the headline: "Obama Wins!!!". But now what?
The energy and enthusiasm that will put him in the White House will be at its highest level. Now we need to channel that energy to good use.
We have two recommendations:
- Tell Barack what you want him to do, and
- Get involved
We have created a site at www.tellbarack.org to help out. You can take some time on the site to:
-- take the surveys to give us your opionins
-- rate the issues
-- send an "email to Barack" telling him what you think
-- check out the growing list of volunteer opportunities to get involved and to change America
We can’t complain about how things are run if we don’t make our voices heard.
Use the comments section to explain your views. Don’t be shy. Everyone has an opinion.
We don’t have any secret addresses to the Obama Campaign, but once we get enough votes we will be sending him our (actually your) results.
Enjoy the upcoming victory - we deserve it - but don't think that your job is done. Actually it is only beginning.
