Palin made no 'big gaffes --' if you don't count not understanding the role of the vice president, citing a Civil War general's views on Afghanistan, blaming Main Street for Wall Street's failure -- so just how successful was this for her?
She failed, she failed in every way possible for me... fortunately, the only place she had to go was up.
Enough has been said about this -- talking heads point to party lines as the barometer for the Palin/Biden debate ratings, relinquishing critical perspective out of deference to an old man and his consort. Gosh, that's swell of them. But give me a break, in fact give all those hockey moms, Joe Six-packs and regular folk a break... we're smarter than that.
I listened to Joe. I say that while admitting he was my choice, that I was thrilled when Obama chose him -- and gosh darn it -- I was right. I tried to listen to Sarah Palin, but the winks, attempted forays into school-marmish disapproval and gosh-darn-it-alls obfuscated whatever she may have been attempting to say.
Which was nothing... get it? She said nothing. Zero, nada, zip. She displaced a serious dialogue, a respectful bow to the people of this country, with a tawdry burlesque sideshow. She denied the people of America with the opportunity to make a considered choice between issues. And her base, the Republican wing-nuts cheered her on, thrilled and renewed, that she didn't fall.
I've got news for them. She fell. It was a bomb. Lucky for them it was a bomb that blew her out of a basement that was quickly filling with sewage.
