Americans are a doctor-lovin', unnecessary surgery acquiring bunch. Paying for that kind of care does not come cheap. My mom's former boss's plan would cost $24,000 a year without insurance. My mom's best friend's health insurance, $13,000 a year. That hospital visit my dad recently had, just for an overnight stay and some routine tests? Close to $10,000.
Republicans have no idea how much health care actually costs, because they've never had to pay for it. Michael Moore rightly stated that the number one cause of people declaring bankruptcy is because of medical bills. Health care has EVERYTHING to do with the economy tanking. If it's lose your stuff or lose your life, which are you going to pick? Chemo or the Lexus? Angioplasty or the mortgage?
I don't understand why the Democrats don't hammer wingnuts on their bullshit culture war. It's not about hippies vs. squares. It's about people who can't make ends meet vs. people who drop thousands of dollars on SHOES. How can you be naive enough to think that Seven House McCain has any IDEA how much anything costs? If you went up to him and asked how much a gallon of milk and a dozen eggs would run you, he wouldn't know because his fucking servants take care of it. Who cares if gas is $4.50 a gallon? CHARGE IT. My computer broke? I'll buy a new one from Sharper Image or SkyMall.
Has a Republican senator ever flown coach?
If you're not an old WASPy family, you sure as hell shouldn't be voting for them, and people used to at least understand that. Republicans are rich, greedy pigs. Can't we just fucking agree on that?
(Edit: Added poll on health care costs. Please comment on your age and general health if you participate in the poll, because these are important factors.)
