Just a quick note to get this into the mix, The Colorado Independent is reporting that a Dibold Accu-Vote machine has been taken out of service and impounded after it repeatedly changed a vote for a Democratic candidate to the Republican challenger.
"I have quarantined the machine," Long told the newspaper. "It’s removed and it’s sealed up and it’s in a bag." She said she is awaiting instructions from the secretary of state’s office.
The news of vote flipping and touch-screens requiring frequent 'calibration' has got some people in a snit.
The folks at TrueVote.us have videoof vote flipping and people in the blogosphere are making comments such as:
My iphone is a touch screen and it doesn't need to be constantly "recalibrated"
(from reddit)
or
Do the touch screens used at your local popular restaurant ever need to be calibrated? I've never had them fail
or even
Touch screen ATMs never enter my PIN wrong or withdraw $20 when I asked for $200. I've never had a malfunction with one of those touch screen video games that some bars have. The touch screen device for printing a digital photo has never done the wrong thing for me. The touch screen at the supermarket for self-checkout always works perfectly.

Sorry for the quick nature and weak documentation, but this needs to be at the forefront of people's minds as they encounter these apparently flimsy machines.
