I was going to write about how great it was for the Phillies to win the World Series. How important it is for this great city to feel good about something again.
However, that's not what I will write about. I would have written something about music, something I know a little bit about, but after reading some of the diaries about tonight's Obama interview with Rachel Maddow, I could not help myself. I needed to get it off my chest. It's not a rant. I don't rant. Those who have read some of my comments know me to piss people off most of the time because I'm such an adorable curmudgeon. Well, maybe not so adorable.
I am not writing this to judge people. I am writing this because I am absolutely awed by the overwhelming interest over that Obama interview with Rachel Maddow. Actually, it is not the substance of the interview with Obama that struck me, it was the lack of interest in the substance of Obama's words by just about everyone in a number of diaries and comment threads. It was as if Obama did not say anything whatsoever about how he will lead this nation if he is elected.
I watched the show only because I was told she was going to interview Obama. I don't usually watch cable TV news shows at all. I watch sports and once in a while I watch assholes play around with deadly snakes waiting to get bit. (P.S. I root for the snake). Then I thought I'd log in here and read what people would write about the interview, especially his take on how China has invested in their infrastructure or using the technology he's used in his campaign as a tool his administration can use to inform the public in a more transparent government. No one even thought it important enough to not only diary, but even to mention.
No, the number one thing people took away from that was whether Ms. Maddow likes Obama or not, or whether she's a concern troll. I thought I'd write about the interview. It was very interesting and illustrated a clear understanding about what is necessary to invest in as far as the electric grid of the country, developing green jobs, and how we will involve ourselves in Afghanistan, fight against the Taliban, narco-terrorists and Al-Qaeda. So I thought I'd give a try and see if people will start a thread about what Obama said in the interview. Or, maybe no one is that interested in what he had to say versus the soap opera that is the Rachel Maddow show.
