In the final days leading up to the election, I think it is important that we all take some time to think about what it is that inspires us to vote, and also learn what inspires others. I posted the following article on The Georgetown Progressive yesterday, and I encourage you all to take part as well!
Yesterday, I posted an article describing the reasons that inspire me to vote; and over the next several days we will be posting pieces from other members of our staff on the same topic.
But I don’t think that is good enough. I want to know what inspires you to vote. So this post is for you.
Please go into the comment section under this post and tell us what it is that made you fill out your absentee ballot, wait in line to vote early, or what will be getting you to the polls on Tuesday. Is there a specific issue that you feel strongly about? Was there an event in your past that first got you involved? Is there a hope or wish you have for the future that you want to help make happen? Take a moment and write a little something below, and read what others have to say. Or, if you are not too interested in politics, take some time to read through what your fellow citizens have written, maybe what they have to say will inspire you as well.
So, tell me: why do you vote?
