Twice in the past week I've had people tell me that Obama's lack of experience made it hard for them to vote for him. One was a McCain voter, the other undecided (as of this morning when we spoke).
In both cases, I mentioned Obama's experience in the Illinois Senate, which made no impression whatsoever. But, when I mentioned that he taught constitutional law for 13 years, the reaction of both people was exactly the same. Eyes wide open, they both said, "Oh really, I didn't know that."
In the case of the McCain voter who had said to me, "Obama has no more experience than Sarah Palin," it also shut him the f**k up.
While it still amazes me that some people can be undecided at this point, this simple fact of Obama's biography, which has not been played up by the campaign, can really make an impact, especially with people who get all their news from the mainstream networks and sincerely are having a tough time making a choice (they really do exist).
Hope this helps y'all persuade.
