If you want Obama to win, I suppose you should be glad that the McCain campaign appears to be as inept as is possible. We hear him change his mind almost daily it seems. He disagrees with his running mate, then claims there really is no disagreement. He lashes out at his opponent in ways that make no sense and are hypocritical. And that's when he can keep basic and crucial facts straight, which doesn't appear to be an easy task for him, while addressing his crowds as "my fellow prisoners."
While it looks like this is going to doom his campaign, as an independent progresive sort of person, I feel that my intelligence has been insulted by these people. Nobody I've talked to has any idea how McCain would be significantly different than "W." In fact, several have said that he might be more of a war monger, which is something none of them liked. And the latest insult? Talking about "Joe the Plumber" at his rallies as a "hero." McCain wants me to believe that a man who seems to have lied about everything (much like McCain himself in recent months, I guess) and would clearly benefit more from Obama's tax notions than McCain's, should be viewed as a hero. All this does is make me think that Obama was "spot on" when he said that McCain had "lost his bearings."
Senator McCain: Most Americans want a choice in a system which is basically "two party." You have given me no choice (and many others I've spoken to feel the same way). Your candidacy is more of a comedy routine, especially after choosing Palin (with all of her gaffs). You think I'm going to be fooled by your claims against Obama, which are more applicable to you ("hanging around with" or "supporting" "terrorists") or to your running mate ("socialist"). And how does a man whose father and grandfather were Admirals call a guy raised on food stamps an "elitist." Perhaps it's because he's clearly more intelligent than you are. As an elder relative used to say to me, "if you don't know what you're doing, don't open your mouth and let everyone know it." If nothing else, I hope your campaign convinces those in charge of the national Republican party that they need to actually begin to treat non-Republican voters as if they are rational human beings.
