It appears the hate-filled Republican chickens have come home to roost.
Sarah Palin, in her third consecutive day as the McCain campaign's guilt-by-association hatchet man [so to speak], unleashed a torrent of "Obama pals around with terrorists" jabs that elicited the following response:
"Kill him!" proposed one man in the audience.
This is after earlier in the day John McCain sarcastically asked his audience, "who is Barack Obama", and received the following response:
Terrorist!
You might ask, what was the response of Sarah Palin & John McCain to these audience answers:
Sarah Palin--Palin went on to say that "Obama held one of the first meetings of his political career in Bill Ayers's living room, and they've worked together on various projects in Chicago."
John McCain--McCain pauses, the audience laughs, and McCain continues on, not acknowledging, not chastising, not correcting.
So, let me get this straight--an audience member screamed out that Barack Obama should be killed and her response was to simply "go on".
Palin & McCain have crossed the line from simply engaging in despicable political smear tactics. They are now actively engaged in a campaign that is creating a demonstrable risk to the life of the opposing candidate.
This entire: he's not one of us--doesn't see America like you and I--pals around with terrorists meme is sowing dangerous seeds in the minds of voters. Not--don't vote for the guy seeds, but rather, he needs to be eliminated seeds.
The very fact that voters, in public, are giving voice to these fears should speak volumes to the despicable nature of the smear campaign.
The MSM cannot allow this matter to simply go unaddressed. There is simply too much at stake; much more than the outcome of an election.
UPDATED: It was suggested in the comments that the audience member responding to Sarah Palin was referring to Bill Ayers and not Barack Obama. I'm not sure if this information, if true, actually makes me feel better about the crowd at Palin rally's, but it's perhaps not as bad????
