Why has Obama won? Easy: My brother. Follow me as I tell my story.
My brother and I have lead very different lives. Both born to and raised by the same parents in the same household, I grew up leading what some might describe as a traditional liberal path, ending up as an attorney (actually, I should not jinx myself, the Pennsylvania bar results come out this Friday, cross your fingers for me.)
On the other hand, my brother was a hunter and a fisherman from birth. He has never heard a country song he didn't like. He lives in the middle of the Allegheny National Forrest and works for a lumber company. He goes to church regularly and generally supports gun rights. In every sense of the word, he is a redneck. I should note that some may consider that a smear in and of itself but it is something he wears with pride and I know he would not mind me calling him that. So, what kind of voter does this sound like to you?
That's right, an Obama voter. He emailed these to me today:
Not only is he an Obama supporter, but he is a proud Obama supporter. I do not know how many views his signs will get by his cabin in the middle of no where, but it says something.
It's all over folks. Pennsylvania will soon go the way of Michigan. Where will McCain find the votes? If the votes do not exist amongst voters like my brother, he will not find them anywhere.
Race does not matter to my brother, middle names do not matter and the pro-NRA commercials do not work. And I am proud of my brother. Thank you for letting me tell my story in my first diary (although long, long time reader.)
