I am Barry Welsh and I am running a grass roots, people oriented campaign for Congress against Mike Pence in Indiana’s 6th District. An update on the campaign below but first, Senator and the Next President of the United States Barack Obama will be back in Indiana tomorrow.
Senator Obama will be in Indianapolis tomorrow at 12:15 at the historic Indiana State fairgrounds Coliseum. The Coliseum is one of the few buildings still standing nationally that have hosted The Beatles, John F. Kennedy, Elvis, and The ABA Indiana Pacers.
This may not be new News but I did want to remind Hoosiers to come and see the Next President.
Our campaign update comes below.
First, we are part of the People For The American Way fundraising contest, and as many that have followed our two runs against Pence know, we make a little go a very long way out here. Here is the link. If you can give us a few dollars, please do. All of the money raised through this effort will be going to our targeted cable TV advertising.
Second, we have picked up the endorsement of The 9/11 Co-Chair, President of The Woodrow Wilson Institute, and former Congressman from this district, the Honorable Lee Hamilton. The following is his letter:
To the Citizens of Indiana's 6th Congressional District,
Our Nation is at a crossroads, and on November 4 each of us must choose the path we think our country should take. We need new leadership and a new direction, and that is why I have endorsed Barry Welsh for Congress in the 6th District of Indiana. Barry is the kind of individual we need representing us in Congress at this critical time in our Nation's history. Barry is a "forward thinker" who is serious about finding real solutions to our very real problems. Barry listens to the opinions and wisdom of others before making a judgment and taking action-just the traits we need in a representative.
I hope you will join me in supporting Barry Welsh in this crucial election. Make sure you spread the word to your friends that now is the time for change. Barry Welsh is part of that change. It is up to each of us to take a stand and help do our part to get our country back on track.
The Honorable Lee H. Hamilton, Former Congressman.
We have also been endorsed by The AFL-CIO and we are waiting for a check from the UAW who is also behind our efforts.
We have an endorsement coming from our local Sierra Club, Winding Waters and here is a snip of an email after our appearance there:
Thank Barry again for coming to the Winding Waters Sierra Club Forum; it was very inspiring to hear from someone intelligent who actually seems to understand the issues and has taken action to address them!
We have been endorsed by The Anderson Federation of Teachers the largest organization of educators in the district.
We have two debates with Mike Pence, and George Holland the Libertarian coming up on the 21st and the 28th. Holland ran as a Republican against Pence in the 2006 primary and got over 13% of that vote.
There is a voter guide that people can compare and contrast the candidates through the Indianapolis Star that you can see Here. Pence refused to answer the questions.
We are appearing Thursday with former Senator Birch Bayh in Anderson and Muncie. Senator Bayh is an Indiana legend and is coming in support of Senator Obama. After the Muncie Rally, we are leading a group of Ball State University Students to the Delaware County Building for Early Voting! Delaware County alone has over 6000 new democratic registrations turned in before yesterdays deadline!
That’s enough for this edition, it is getting close to debate time, but I will get back next week, and try to update again.
Once again, if you can, drop a few dollars at this link. Thanks for all you do for all of us running to make a difference and bring the change that we must have.
I also have to thank Howie Kline from Down With Tyranny and Marge Barker from People for the American Way for including us in this fund raising effort.
I will be in the comments and watching the debate, so drop a line below if you desire or have a question.
Thanks!
Barry Welsh
