There are very few issues I can do a better job of explaining than Barack Obama. However, I have to admit that his energy policy, while stated well during this recent debate, should sound like this...He mentioned all of these things, more or less, but never in a cohesive statement - not even at rallies...This is how he needs to approach it and I do think it will be a "Game Changer"
Energy is not just fuel for our cars. It is the most important issue we face on several fronts. First, by in solar, wind, tidal, ethanol (etc) $150 billion over 10 years, as my plan calls for, we can jump start a green economy that will create at least 5 million new jobs.
Second, energy is not just a domestic crisis; it is an important aspect of foreign policy. Countries like Iran, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia and Russia owe the vast part of their wealth due to the price of oil. Using the same vision President John F. Kennedy had for the Apollo project, which tapped into the spirit, imagination and singular abilities of the American people to come together and solve a problem, I will help foster such an effort to develop tomorrow's energy sources today! We can export these technologies all over the world at great benefit to our economy, while at the same time diminishing the power some of our adversaries to fund terror or further instability around the globe.
Third, the leftover effect of heavily investing in alternative forms of energy - $150 billion over 10 years - is the well-being of our planet. In essence, cleaner forms of energy will provide a health-care plan for our planet. Let's be clear, global warming is a real problem. Real problems require real solutions that address real causes. John McCain has voted 23 times against alternative energy, 23 times against Green initiatives, and most importantly, Senator McCain has voted 23 times against our most precious resource, our planet.
