I just saw an ad on TV that includes a complete falsehood about our oil reserves. This isn't just stretching the truth or a half-truth. This is a complete lie. A deliberate attempt to trick the people of Georgia into voting for this scumbag under false pretenses.
Pay attention to this phrase in the middle of the ad: "We have more oil within our country than all the oil in Saudi Arabia."
That struck me as unlikely when I first heard it on TV. Think about it for a second:
We have more oil within our country than all the oil in Saudi Arabia
So I did a little fact checking.
According to Wikipedia, the U.S. has 21 Billion barrels of oil reserves. Saudi Arabia? 260 billion barrels. Not only do we not even come close to matching the reserves of Saudi Arabia, but they have over twelve times the amount we do.
TWELVE TIMES. Yet Chambliss thinks he can dupe Georgians into believing a complete falsehood that we actually have more than them.
I'm really at a loss for words. I can't express my disbelief accurately. I didn't think even an asshole like Chambliss would have the nerve to completely lie in an ad. But there you have it.
There's really only one way to fix this: Promptly donate or volunteer to the campaign of Jim Martin. I'm heading down there tomorrow morning and asking what I can do. Enough is enough. We deserve to have senators who don't lie to us outright.
