I only recently joined DailyKos after lurking for a bit and this is my first diary. I'm afraid I haven't been doing a lot of GOTV activities, but at least I've been throwing my coin (a lot of coin) to the various red to blue candidates, No on Prop 8, and of course Obama.
Imagine my surprise today when I opened my e-mail, and not only did it show the usual requests from the various campaigns, but 66 (yes, 66 so far) e-mails. They started with a message from San Francisco for Obama to "San Francisco CANeighborhoodTeam5@groups.barackobama.com". However, most of the other 65 (no I didn't read them all) were from irate people asking to be removed from the mailing list, and saying they never signed up for that.
I figure someone made a mistake, it's near the end of the campaign, and I'm just going to keep deleting, but some people were pretty upset. I don't like to see people saying, "It makes me want to not vote." It wouldn't have been so bad if all the "Take me off the list" emails hadn't also come to everyone, thereby creating the deluge. It's time to laugh at it, though, and hope it doesn't happen somewhere that isn't quite as blue as San Francisco. By the way, I looked to see if this was diaried elsewhere, and didn't see it.
