The following picture was taken at Sarah's rally in Polk City today. It is not interesting because of what it shows. It is interesting because of what it doesn't.
Looks innocuous enough, right? Sarah's there, a couple thousand people. Your basic McCain / Palin political rally, right? Not really. Something's missing. Look closely. Closer. Can't see it? Look at the signs. See it now? Not a single one of those signs so much as mentions the name of the candidate Palin is ostensibly stumping for. Not one.
And, lest you think I cherry picked the photo, please see the photographer's flickr page. He has about a dozen pictures of the event there, and not one with McCain's name on it.
Either this is an absurd oversight by Palin's campaign staff, or Sarah is now campaigning for something other than the 2008 vice presidency.
Update: Apparently CNN noticed the same thing.
Looking around the Fantasy of Flight aircraft hangar where the rally took place, one could see all the usual reminders that it was a pro-McCain event.
[. . .]
But on closer inspection, the GOP nominee’s name was literally nowhere to be found on any of the official campaign signage distributed to supporters at the event.
It would appear that much of the signage was paid for by the Adam Putnam campaign. Putnam is the sitting congressman for Florida's 12th district and apparently has more money to burn that The McCain campaign.
To summarize, the wheels have come off the straight talk express, and Sarah has decided to get off and hitch a ride.
