Hey fellow kossacks, especially those in DC area who know the ropes... I just secured a room for the 19th and 20th... after trying for a couple days. I just felt the desire to be there when Barack takes the oath. Granted, I'd probably see more at home on TV, but I'm looking forward to the adventure.
I'm not sure what is calling me to be there for this historic moment, but it is definitely calling. The last time in DC was for the Jan 2007 war protest. I guess I'm looking to be part of the moment in person, just like then.
The thing is, now that I've got a room I'm looking at things to do and I see where tickets for the Inaugural parade range from $495 - $1800+ ...is that true? I figured anyone could just stand along the street to watch the parade. And that makes me wonder about the swearing in itself. Will the mall be open to regular folks to just gawk? or do I need a ticket for that as well?
I wasn't planning on spending a small fortune to do this thing. Any info locals can provide will be greatly appreciated.
